Westward Expansion Summative Project - Due Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Assessment: For your summative assessment on Westward Movement, you will be creating a brochure explaining several of the main topics we discussed in class.
Westward Movement Brochure:
1) Choose four of the five topics to use to create your brochure.
2) Each section must include details, facts, and illustrations. Use your notes and additional research.
3) Each section must contain a minimum of two paragraphs (5-7 sentences each, minimum).
4) The last page of the brochure should contain a paragraph (5-7 sentences, minimum) discussing your answer to the following question: What led to the closing of the West and why is the closing of the West important to US History?
5) Use the rubric to guide you as you create your brochure.
6) Your brochure should be created using a Microsoft Word tri-fold brochure template (save your work in Google Docs).*** The final project should be saved as a pdf and shared with Ms. Huffman through Google Docs. Ms. Huffman’s email address is [email protected].

-What was the impact of the Homestead Act and barbed wire on the closing of the West?

-What was the impact of ranching on the closing of the West?
